Two Boko Haram Commanders Killed As Nigerian Military Fight To Recapture Adamawa

The Nigerian Military yesterday morning killed two of Boko Haram’s commanders and 15 of their fighters as the fight to recapture Michika and Bazza towns raged. A military source that spoke on condition of anonymity said that two dreaded commanders of the sect reportedly in charge of Gulak and Shuwa, were among those killed by the troops in the Bazza fierce battle. Boko Haram insurgents reportedly overran the Adamawa towns over a week ago.
Residents say the two towns are yet to be recaptured by the Nigerian soldiers as widely speculated. Confirming this, Rev. Joel Billi, the chairman of CAN, Michika branch, said the insinuation that the military has recaptured Michika and Bazza towns were blatant lies as the insurgents are still in control of the two towns.

Meanwhile, bodies of indigenes caught in the crossfire are reportedly littering the town following renewed fighting between Nigerian troops and the insurgents. This disclosure was made in Yola yesterday by a coalition of non governmental organisations consisting of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Michika chapter, Civil Servants Forum, the Northern Christian Elders Forum and Kamwe Christian Community Forum.
