Online Video Indicates Japanese Journalist Must Have Been Beheaded

A new online video is claiming to show ISIS militants beheading Japanese reporter Kenji Goto, according to the Associated Press. The video was released late Saturday, and it shows a militant with a British accent executing the man. This man seems to be the same one who has taken part in other ISIS videos. The AP says it has not confirmed 100% yet that this video is legitimate. They say it was released via militant websites, and the video carried symbols of prior ISIS videos.

Nigerian Man Who Created Black Doll For His Niece, Now Outsells Barbie Dolls

A man who couldn't find a black doll in the shops as a gift for his niece decided to take matters into his own hands. In 2007, Taofick Okoya, 43, created his own doll that Nigerian girls could identify with by recreating their skin colour and style - and it is now so successful that it is outselling Barbie. The doll, which is called Queens of Africa, comes with traditional outfits and accessories and costs around £4.50.

Saudi Arabia Postpones Flogging Of Young Blogger For The Third Week

Dubai (AFP) - Saudi Arabia postponed Friday for a third week in a row the flogging of a blogger sentenced to 1,000 lashes for insulting Islam, his wife said. Raef Badawi "was not flogged" on Friday, Ensaf Haidar told AFP, adding that the reason was unclear. The 30-year-old received the first 50 lashes of his sentence outside a mosque in the Red Sea city of Jeddah on January 9. The next round of punishment was postponed for the following two weeks on medical grounds.

Stranded Arik Air Passengers Shut Down Abuja Airport

Stranded passengers, who were scheduled to travel to Ibadan by Arik Air but were left stranded for hours by the airline have shut down operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The aggrieved passengers have blocked the boarding gate of the airport and are not allowing Arik and other airlines to board passengers to other destinations. One of the stranded passengers, Saka Waheed, a civil society activist, told Premium Times at about 9:30 P.M that the aborted flight was originally schedule for 3.25pm.

123 Boko Haram Militants & 3 Chad Soldiers Killed In Cameroon

(AFP) - Three soldiers and 123 Boko Haram militants were killed when the Islamist group attacked a Chadian army contingent in northern Cameroon, the Chadian military said. Twelve soldiers were wounded in the attacks staged by the Islamists on Thursday and Friday near the border town of Fotokol, according to a military statement read out on national television.

Self Proclaimed “Queen Of IRS Tax Fraud” Sentenced To 21 Years In Prison

A Florida resident who taunted authorities as she stole millions from the IRS, has been jailed for 21 years Rashia Wilson, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft earlier this year, admitted to stealing over $3 million from the IRS. Tampa police were first alerted to the fraud in 2010 when they noticed a drop in drug dealing in the area. Wilson’s fraud was discovered during a two-year investigation called ‘Operation Rain Maker’.

They buried their father, who passed away in November, at his hometown in Ifitedunu, Anambra State. They started the weekend with s Service of Songs on Thursday after which Peter and Paul paid a courtesy visit to the monarch of the village. President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded the names of seven new ministers to the Senate for  confirmation, African Independent Television [AIT] is reporting. The African Union (AU) has endorsed a plan for a regional task force of 7,500 Army to fight the Islamist Boko Haram militants in Nigeria. So Tragic: 2 Students Found Dead Floating In Osun River

The people of Ijetu area of Osun State were thrown into disarray yesterday, Jan. 29th, when the corpses of two students of the Ifeolu Secondary School were yesterday a woman who had gone to fetch water found them floating on river Osun. What led to the death of the students has not yet been ascertained. The case was reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and a rescue team from the agency was immediately deployed to the scene.
