My Dear Peter,
Paul & Jude
It is so
disheartening to hear of the rumored split and as much as I don’t want to hear
that P-Square has gone their separate ways, I’m an adept fan and supporter of
the P-Square brand from the days when you had your first album in cassette till
now that you’ve taken over Africa and the world.
I painstakingly
write this with heavy heart not because it will reach you directly but for the
world to know that I have gone through your singles, albums and videos all over
again and I’m yet to convince myself of a world without P-Square – this goes
for many other Nigerian music lovers.
The most
torturing part of the subject is the silence of Peter, because the Mr.P we are
used to should have sent some kind words across to the undying fans all over
the world while Paul who rarely speaks, wrote through his preferred Facebook
account and denounced the rumors while announcing shows in Durban and St. Lucia
recently, but both statements disappeared from his wall shortly after.
It is inevitable
that both partners would have had issues in the past both as brothers and
importantly as business partners and what makes this issue irreconcilable
remains blurred. While some speculate
that the cause of the issue is power tussle, some say it may be as a result of
your recent alteration of marital statuses. Will you both bury your business
empire that took years of hard labour to build over an issue that could be
resolved over a round table of tea and positive energy?
With an impressive
blend of Peter, the natural entertainer and trademark dance leader as well as a
natural ladies man and Paul, the front-burner singer/entertainer combined with
the organized and analytical big brother, Jude Okoye who leads the group with
untiring efforts to greater heights, what more is needed for a flourishing
music group? What is P-Square without good dancing, without smooth duet vocals,
without high quality videos?
The question clearly answers itself, perhaps the
name will be altered too.
Kindly settle
your ‘little’ dispute away from the curious media waiting to get the
confirmation of your split by resolving and getting back on track while
continuing to make your late mother as proud of you as many Nigerians are.
However, if for any reason this ‘little’ dispute cannot be amicably resolved, a
solo career by any of you may fail miserably. Personally, I’ll not purchase a
MR. P album or a RUDEBOY album - I’m only waiting for the sixth album from PSQUARE….
God bless Peter
and Paul Okoye
Long Live P-Square
Your biggest
fan,
Odinaka.
