The Met Gala is
always an intensely glamorous affair, but this year’s theme and resultant dress
code, the technologically advanced couturier Charles James and white tie (with decorations, for men) ensured
that the annual sartorial parade would certainly not disappoint.
The red carpet was awash in the muted tones of spring—Suki
Waterhouse’s Burberry dress had the architectural-meets-ladylike flou to rival
one of James’s creations, while Dita Von
Teese in Zac Posen’s modern take
on old-world elegance made waves down the carpet. The men, too, turned out in
full force, with Bradley Cooper, Kanye
West, and Benedict Cumberbatch
sporting the dress code with aplomb (and Johnny
Depp with a few decorations, to boot).
