45 Die, Dozens Injured In TransAsia Plane Crash In Taiwan

CNN exclusively reports that as many as 45 people are feared dead after a TransAsia Airways passenger plane crashed on one of Taiwan's Penghu islands today, Wednesday, July 23, according to Taiwan's Central News Agency. At least nine other people were injured in the crash of the twin-engine turboprop
plane, which happened outside Magong airport at about 7 p.m. The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known. Some media reports said the plane was making a crash landing prompted by strong winds from Typhoon Matmo, which hit Taiwan early Wednesday.

The plane had taken off from Koasiung, Taiwan, CNA reported. The Penghu islands are off the main Taiwanese island's west coast.
