Facebook Reveals The Most-Mentioned Movies, Events & Songs Of 2014

Facebook has revealed its most-mentioned movies, TV shows, songs and entertainers of 2014 via its new Year in Review website. The top-10 lists which also include the most popular topics, places, athletes, games, and most-viewed ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos, were created after measuring how frequently a topic was mentioned in Facebook posts in 2014, which were then analysed in an aggregated, anonymized way, and ranked to create a snapshot of the year on the social media platform.

Among Facebook's U.S. users, Beyonce leads the list of most-mentioned entertainers, followed by Pharrell Williams and Nicki Minaj. The most-discussed songs are Williams' "Happy," John Legend's "All of Me" and "Stay With Me" by Sam Smith.

The platform's top TV show is Game of Thrones, followed by Orange Is the New Black and The Walking Dead, and Frozen, Guardians of the Galaxy and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are the year's most-mentioned movies.

Additionally, Disneyland is the most checked-into place in the U.S., and George W. Bush had the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video most viewed on Facebook. The most-discussed global topic of the year is the World Cup.
