Former Gov. James Ibori's Lawyer, Augustine Alegeh (SAN) Emerges NBA President

The widely anticipated NBA national election held yesterday, July 15th in Abuja with candidates for the Nigeria lawyers body slugging it out at the polls. Among the top shot candidates seeking to be elected as President of the NBA were Mr. Austin Alegeh (SAN), Deacon Dele Adesina (SAN) and Mrs. Funke
Adekoya (SAN). Mrs Funke Adekoya was the only female candidate in the election.
Other candidates at the election were Mr. Niyi Akintola (SAN) and Mr. Osas Erhabor, who is not a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The election concluded with Augustine Alegeh who polled 691 votes to defeat four other candidates in the election. His runner-up, Mr. Oladele Adeshina, polled 370 votes.
Mrs. Olufunke Adekoya (SAN) polled 255 votes, Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN), 126 votes and Mr. Osas Erhabor, 17 votes. 1,728 delegates were registered among whom 1,482 were accredited.
