Ariyike Akinbobola Set To Host Media Personalities During Her Book Launch - "The Cost Of Our Lives"

On Saturday, the 25th of April, Ariyike Akinbobola will be hosting a few media personalities to a book reading for her debut novella - "The Cost of our Lives". This event is scheduled to take place at the Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage street, Victoria Island from 4- 6p.m. Read background, summary of the novel and the authors note below;

"The Cost of our lives" tells the heart warming story of the girl next door. After almost a decade in London, young Ibidun moves back to Nigeria to forge a path in the bustling Lagos society. As she struggles to swim through her new life, sharks of bad friends and her past threaten to
gobble her up.
Ariyike Akinbobola saw the urge to emphasise the issue of child sexual abuse and is drawn into a harrowing world centred on a case of sexual abuse literary masterpiece; “THE COST OF OUR LIVES”. *

The book aims to shed more light on child sexual abuse, cyber bullying and the journey of self discovery. The major character, Ibudun is portrayed as an optimist who also fights for change.
Ariyike Akinbobola shares in a short statement reasons for writing this book:
"Asides from wanting to create awareness for cyber-bullying, my reasons for writing this book are to encourage people to stand up for themselves, to educate parents that your children cannot be trusted with everyone and to also educate the young girls to speak up about child sexual abuse so that they can be helped and counselled."
