Big Brother Africa will not be coming off this year due to inability of the organizers of the show, Africa Magic and Endemol’s to get sponsorship for the show. In an exclusive interview with Manager of Multi Choice Ghana, Anne Sackey, she confirmed to Razz Newspaper that they at Multi Choice Ghana have received notice from MNET that this year’s edition of Big Brother Africa will not come off.

Why I Can’t Pay Workers’ Salaries – Aregbesola
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, has once again blamed the failure of his administration to pay workers salaries as at when due on the drop in allocations to the state from the Federation Account. Aregbesola said this Friday night during a CHAT with newsmen on the sidelines of an award to him for service to humanity by Voice of African Women for Human Dignity, an NGO.

The Tunisian parliament has adopted a new “anti-terror” law aimed at beefing up authorities’ powers following recent deadly attacks claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group. Eleven Generals Retired By Nigerian Army
Eleven generals of the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps in Lagos were on Friday pulled out of service. The News Agency of NIGERIA reports that the officers include eight Major-Generals and THREEBrigadier-Generals. The Major-Generals are Manhood Yerima, Abiodun Amao, Olayemi Abidoye, Boniface Azurunwa, Adekunle Martin’s, Christian Ugwu, Bode Ogini and Mashudy Adekanye. The Brigadier-Generals are Kachallah, Godfrey Nwafor and Gabriel Oladipo.
Pay Salaries Or Face Strike, NLC Tells Governors
Factional NLC leader Joe Ajaero on Friday advised state governors owing workers to pay their salaries to avoid protest by the organised labour. This is contained in a 10-point communiqué signed by Ajaero at the end of his National Executive Council meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers. According to the communique, it is unacceptable that after the timely intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari, the workers’ have not received their salaries in full.
Police Arrest Car Snatchers In Delta
The fortunes of a gang, specialising in snatching cars in Delta State, suffered a setback on Thursday, as three MEMBERS of the gang were arrested by police detectives in Asaba, the state capital. It was learnt that the suspects had taken some stolen cars to a refurbishing centre, located in the Direct Labour Agency area of Asaba, but the information was leaked to the police.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo raised alarm, yesterday, that Boko Haram MEMBERS were targeting to bomb the houses of VIPs. This came as governors of Yobe, Ibrahim Gaidem and Borno, Kassim Shetima also stated that the insurgents still occupied five local governments of the TWO states.

Gunmen Kidnap Bayelsa Monarch
Gunmen have abducted a 92-year-old monarch, His Royal Highness, Christian Otobotekere, in Bayelsa State. Otobotekere, father of a former Commissioner for Science and Technology and former Chief of Staff, Bayelsa Government House, was abducted in Tombia community in Gbarain area of Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state. It was learnt that the monarch was seized by heavily armed men, numbering five, who stormed the community on Thursday morning.

University Of Lagos Rejects 59,000 Candidates
University of Lagos has rejected about 59,000 candidates who applied for admission into the school through the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This was irrespective of the fact that majority of the students scored above the Board’s cut-off mark. Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, JAMB spokesman, Mr Fabian Benjamin stated that the Board has entered into an agreement with the school to post the rejected students to other schools in Lagos environs.
Boko Haram Hits Borno State Leaving At Least Five Dead
Gunmen killed eight people in a raid on a village in Borno, a local resident and a vigilante said Thursday, in the latest violence blamed on Boko Haram. The attack in Borno state Wednesday was unleashed the same day as twin suicide bombings in Cameroon and a series of blasts at two bus stations in Nigeria that left at least 50 dead. “The gunmen we believe to be from Boko Haram came into our village around 9 pm yesterday (Wednesday) and shot dead eight people,” said Umar Goni, a resident of Pompomari village. The militants stormed the home of the village chief who was away at the time but killed his son before moving on to other houses where they killed a vigilante and people who had been displaced by previous attacks, Goni said.
29 Confirmed Dead In Gombe Explosions
The National Emergency Management Agency on Thursday confirmed that 29 persons were killed in Wednesday’s attacks at TWO motor parks in Gombe. The information officer of the agency in Gombe State, Umar Madigawa, in a message to our correspondent, said the explosion at Dadin Kowa motor park occurred at 7:15pm on Wednesday and that of Dukku motor park happened shortly after that, at 8:30pm.

Fule Tanker Explodes In Ogun Leaving One Dead
Tragedy struck in Abeokuta, yesterday, following an explosion at a government petroleum dump site, leaving one person dead and two injured. The explosion occurred when a fuel tank exploded and caught fire at a construction site inside the the premises of Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency, OGROMA, located opposite Agbeloba House, Quarry Road, Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
According to bricklayers working at the construction site, the victims were working on the THREE underground tankers being relocated from the government fuel dumps at the old secretariat, when the explosion occurred.

Boko Haram Attacks Chief Of Army Staff’s Home
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have burnt down houses, including the family home of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Tukur Buratai, in his village in Borno State. At least, TWO people were killed and eight injured during the attack on Buratai village on Tuesday, sources told our correspondent in Abuja. It was learnt that the terrorists killed TWO auto mechanics and torched some houses during the attack on the community.

The Presidency on Wednesday admitted that the issue of gay marriage came up during President Muhammadu Buhari’s four-day official visit to the United States. Twenty-Two Soldiers Killed In Iraq Suicide Attack
At least 22 Iraqi soldiers and fighters from the Popular Mobilisation Forces have been killed in a double suicide car attack by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in east Fallujah, local police sources have told Al Jazeera. Wednesday’s attack was carried out with a confiscated Iraqi army Humvee and an armoured army vehicle at the Harariyat village, part of Al Karmah town. Both blasts targeted a congregation of Iraqi army soldiers and fighters. At least 24 were also wounded in the incident.

The Federal Government on Tuesday demonstrated its commitment to stamping out Ebola Virus Disease in Africa, with President Muhammadu Buhari announcing a donation of US$1 million to the continent. British Metropolitan Police Service To Recruit Yoruba-Speaking Officers
British Metropolitan Police Service has launched a recruitment programme to employ new officers who can speak Yoruba and other languages. A total of 14 languages which have a high prevalence in London’s communities have been chosen for what the Met called a month-long pilot recruitment which started on Monday. According to a statement issued on Monday by the MPS, the move was designed to bring officers into the Met with skills necessary to help the police and engage with London’s diverse communities as effectively as possible.

Over 20 Civil Society Organisations on Tuesday barricaded the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja, calling for the sacking of its chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde. The CSOs, under the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Liberties and Equity, besieged the Abuja office of EFCC, alleging that the commission had been compromised by a powerful cabal made up of politicians. The coalition, therefore, advised that for the government of President Muhammadu Buhari to successfully tackle corruption in Nigeria, there was a need to sack Lamorde.

Etisalat Sues MTN Over Family And Friends
Mobile telecommunications service provider, Etisalat, has taken the Nigerian Communications Commission before a Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly giving its competitor, Mobile Telephone Network, a market advantage over it. Counsel for Etisalat, Aanu Ogunro, appeared before Justice Mohammed Idris on Tuesday with an application seeking the leave of the court for the suit to be heard during the court’s ongoing annual vacation. Joined as a co-respondent with NCC in the suit is MTN. Ogunro, while urging the vacation judge to hear the suit, said it was urgent, claiming that if the decision of the NCC in favour of MTN was not reversed, it posed a threat to the business survival of Etisalat.

Police Arrests Two For The Murder Of APC Chieftain In Lagos
The Homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspects as it commenced investigation into the killing of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Salawe Daramola. The command’s spokesman, Kenneth Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.
Nwosu, who did not mention if the two suspects were politicians, however, said they were arrested during the Sallah celebration in different parts of the state.
