Son of late Head of State, General Murtala Mohammed, Alhaji Abba, has emerged running mate of Alhaji Sagir Takai, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Kano State in 2015. In April almost 300 schoolgirls were kidnapped in northern Nigeria by the terrorist group Boko Haram. In the days after the kidnapping, some of the girls managed to escape. Now, thanks to the kindness of a Nigerian couple, some of them have travelled and to the U.S and will restart their education there in the New Year.

Internet War: North Korea Insults Obama, Blames U.S. For Internet Outages

North Korea today, Saturday, December 2014, accused the U.S. of shutting down internet service to the country in retaliation for its alleged hacking attack on Sony, and referred to President Barack Obama as "a monkey" in blaming him for the release of "The Interview." An unnamed spokesman for the Policy Department of the National Defense Commission denied that North Korea was involved in the cyberattack on Sony Pictures Entertainment, as the FBI has claimed.

Christmas Babies: 108 Babies Born On Christmas Day In South Africa

More than 100 babies were born in Gauteng, South Africa, on Christmas Day, the provincial health department said on Thursday. Spokesman Prince Hamnca said a total of 108 babies were born in the province. Mamelodi Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital each delivered 14 babies, while Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital and Kalafong Hospital delivered 11 each. In KwaZulu-Natal 65 babies were born at government hospitals, Health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo said.

Passengers Stranded At Lagos Airports Over Increased Fares

Hundreds of intending passengers were on Thursday stranded at the two domestic Lagos airports over hike in fares by airline operators. The operators capitalised on the Christmas rush to increase their fares. According to the reports gathered, the air ticket for an hour flight currently ranged from N30,000 to N43,000, depending on the carrier. This was against N18,000 to N30,000 a few days ago. Officials of some of the airlines said the rush for tickets was more pronounced on Lagos, Enugu, Abuja, Owerri, Calabar and Port Harcourt routes.
