Rukky says she has multiple personalities that take care of all her businesses. Hear her, ‘I’m an interior designer, scriptwriter, actress, director and producer, and I’ve been doing this for about 10 years now. I think I’m just different at different times. It’s a blessing actually. I love writing and listening to stories. I also love being involved in every aspect of my movies; I can edit and do a couple of other things. I don’t like being ignorant about any part of movie production.’ She veered into movie production after appearing in only three movies, and we wanted to know why. She answers, ‘For me, it was more of a business decision, because at that time, it wasn’t like actresses were being paid well. I’ve always been a business person, and I wanted to invest in the business aspect of Nollywood. I acted in my first movie in 2004, and I produced my first film in 2005.’

Cholera Kills 20 In Bauchi

Twenty persons have died of cholera in Shira Local Government Area (LGA), Bauchi State. This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria by the Information Officer in the LGA, Malam Danlami Baza, in Bauchi on Saturday. Chad Sentences 10 Boko Haram Fighters To Death

A court in Chad on Friday sentenced 10 suspected members of Nigeria-based Islamist group Boko Haram to death in connection with a double suicide bombing in June that killed 38 people in the capital N’Djamena. “The 10 Boko Haram defendants have been condemned to death,” declared the ruling in Chad’s first trial of Boko Haram members. The defendants were accused of criminal conspiracy, murder, wilful destruction with explosives, fraud, and illegal possession of arms and ammunition as well as using psychotropic substances.

Fayose Appoints 72-Year-Old Carpenter Local Government Chairman

 

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has appointed a 72-year-old illiterate, Pa Olatunde Afolayan, as the caretaker chairman of Moba Local Government Area. He also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to remove Mrs. Amina Zakari as the Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission. The governor, who stated this during the inauguration of Boards, Commissions and Governing Councils in the state, said it was only God that saved him from the failed impeachment plot. Mrs. Omolara Ayeni and Mr. Owolabi Ajewole were also sworn in as chairmen of Ikole and Ijero local government areas, following the resignation of those earlier appointed by the governor.

We Hid Cocaine In Arik Flight Meals – Attendant’s Accomplice

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Thursday said it had apprehended another employee of Arik Air, Ikechukwu Chibuzor Oliver, for his alleged involvement in the smuggling of 20kg cocaine to London on Monday. According to the NDLEA, Oliver had confessed to the crime and had revealed that he charged N400,000 for each of the three bags containing the substance. Oliver, Arik Air’s employee in the catering department, was said to have assisted Chika Egwu Udensi to get the cocaine onboard the London-bound Flight W3101 on which Udensi arrived in the UK on Monday night.

Kim Kardashian May Get Uterus Removed After Her Second Pregnancy

Kim Kardashian got pretty candid about her health problems when trying to conceive. The 34-year-old reality star shared with C magazine's Amanda de Cadenet that she suffered from a condition called placenta accreta that she believes made it harder for her to get pregnant a second time. "There were a couple of little operations to fix all that, so that created a little hole in my uterus, which I think made it really tough to get pregnant again," she said of her condition.

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it is repositioning company in a way, that will enable it secure new market potential. A statement released to Punch Newspapers, by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, said “In a novel move to instill transparency and probity in the award of the annual crude oil term contract, the NNPC has mapped out measures to execute the 2015/2016 award of contract to companies for the evacuation of Nigeria’s crude oil equity from the various crude and condensate production arrangements.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Babachir David Lawal as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) In a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, said the president also appointed Alhaji Abba Kyari as his Chief of Staff ; retired Col. Hameed Ali as Comptroller-General, Nigerian Customs Service, while Mr Kure Abeshi is the new Comptroller-General, Nigerian Immigration Service.
It stated that the president also appointed Sen. Ita S. Enang as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) while Hon. Suleiman A. Kawu is the new SSA to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).

YouTube’s Founder Is Paying Big Bucks To Kim and Kanye

A co-founder of YouTube is paying a large settlement to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to settle a lawsuit, according to TMZ. The gossip website reports that Chad Hurley, one of the three founders of YouTube, must pay Kim and Kanye $440,000 for filming West’s proposal to Kardashian at San Francisco’s AT&T park and putting it on his new video site Mixbit. Hurley had reportedly signed a confidentiality agreement that prohibited spreading footage of the proposal.

Another Arik Air Crew Arrested With Cocaine

A crew member of Arik Air,  Mr.Chika Egwu Udensi, was on Monday night apprehended at Heathrow Airport, London, for allegedly peddling substances, suspected to be cocaine.Spokesman of Arik Air, Mr. Ola Adebanji, confirmed the latest arrest. He said the crew member was arrested by the UK Border Force in connection with alleged possession of items suspected to be banned substances.
Adebanji, in a statement, stated that the airline was presently carrying out its own investigation to determine how the cabin crew member came about the suspected banned substance. He stressed that the airline would also be cooperating fully with the UK authorities and other appropriate agencies in their investigations.

Empire Creators Sued AGAIN As Production Company Owner Seeks $500m

The creators of Empire are being sued by a production company owner who insists he came up with the idea for the hit show - the third lawsuit to make such claims. Jon Astor-White is suing the show's creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, along with Imagine Entertainment and 21st Century Fox. He wants $500million, plus additional damages. Speaking to MailOnline Astor-White explained: 'In our minds it (Empire) is at least 75per cent of what we wrote.' Astor-White, who owns a Vegas based production company, claims in suit that a show he proposed back in 2007 - named King Solomon - had a huge number of similarities to Empire His treatment focused on a record producer and his family and their battle for control of the company, with Astor-White imagining that Kanye West, Richard Roundtree, Alicia Keyes, John Goodman, George Hamilton and Angie Dickinson would all want to be involved.

Lagos State House Of Assembly Head of clinic, Found Dead In Office

The police in Lagos, on Monday said that the Head of Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA) Clinic, Caroline Oriola was found dead in her office. The spokeswoman of the command, DSP Patricia Amadin who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said that a cleaner, Nimota Saka, who wanted to clean her office, discovered her dead body on the floor at about 6.50 a.m.

Ikorodu Robbery Suspects Sue IGP, Others

The four suspects paraded in connection with the recent bank robbery in Ikorodu, Lagos State, have dragged the Inspector General of Police before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, saying that their alleged confessional statements given out to journalists, was extracted from them behind their lawyer. The four suspects had reportedly confessed to playing different roles in the robbery while three Sport Utility Vehicles allegedly bought from the proceeds of the robbery were recovered from them.

A 40-year-old man, Salau Kehinde, has told a Customary Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, that he physically abused his wife, Shakirat, 32, whenever she refuses to have sex with him, but that he had no intention of bathing her in hot water. Shakirat had approached the court seeking for dissolution of their 10-year old marriage, blessed with two children.

Army Recalls 2,500 Soldiers, 102 Officers

The Nigerian Army has reinstated about 2,500 soldiers who were earlier withdrawn from service for various reasons. The recalled soldiers will be absorbed into the new anti-Boko Haram force tagged Operation "Zaman Lafiya." The Army has also screened and reinstated 102 officers, who were facing disciplinary action. The reinstated soldiers and officers are now being re-trained at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontangora, Niger State, Punch reports.

Senate To Probe Lamorde’s Alleged Diversion Of N1tn

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions will on Wednesday begin a probe of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde, over an allegation that he fraudulently diverted over N1tn proceeds of corruption recovered by the anti-graft agency. Part of the money alleged by a petitioner to have been diverted by the EFCC boss included the loot recovered from a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha; and ex-Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun. The petitioner, Mr. George Uboh, whose complaint to the Senate prompted the probe, has been invited to appear before the Senate committee at Meeting Room 120 of the New Senate Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, by 10am on Wednesday.
Similar invitation, it was learnt, had been extended to Lamorde to appear before the Senate committee the same time on Wednesday.

Dangote Gains N15.6bn In 24 Hours, Now Worth N3tn

While some of the world’s richest people lost a sum of $182bn (N35.85tn) over the past week, Nigerian billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and 10 others made money amid deepening global market rout. Dangote, who is President of Dangote Group, posted a $79.2m (N15.6bn) gain from Thursday to Friday, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. He was one of six billionaires who saw their fortunes increase in 24 hours to Friday. The world’s 400 richest people lost $182bn last week from their collective fortunes as weak manufacturing data from China and a rout in commodities sent global markets plunging. Dangote is Africa’s richest man, with a net worth of $15.4bn, according to the Index.
