"30 Days Of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration There Have Been Positive Results" -Chief Chekwas Okerie

The Presidential candidate of the United Progressive Party, UPP, Chief Chekwas Okerie said that already within 30 days of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration there have been positive results. He said that though the ministers have not been appointed, some of the steps so far taken had yielded positive results, adding that they were made possible because of the character of the president.
He said there was a better improved electricity supply and people were now determined to go to work, stressing that though the ministers were not there yet, the President and the permanent Secretaries were doing the work.

He, however, said that the crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was nothing to cheer about and that it was not right for the President to keep quiet in the midst of the crisis.
He called on the President to intervene as soon as possible to restore normalcy.
On the perceived concentration of power in the north which had made some people to alleged that the North had dominated in all political positions, he said that it was not deliberate, as according to him, the APC, zoned its presidency to North while the Vice President was zoned to the South west.
He cautioned that the APC and the Buhari’s administration should be conscious of the nationality of the country and the spirit of the federal character as contained in the Constitution.
He said, “For the APC, they must be sensitive and should not concentrate leadership in the north. Nigeria is a country of nationalities, if they decide to concentrate power in the north it will hurt the party.”Buhari is cautious—–Onyeagocha

Also commenting on the President’s 30 days in office, a former member of the House of
Representatives and Senatorial Candidate in the last general election for Imo East, Hon. Uche Onyeagocha said that the President had been cautious in the last few weeks of his administration.
He said that President Buhari was determined not to fail Nigerians and that had made him to be very cautious so as to not to take the massive support he was given for granted.Although he said that there was no perfect state, but he advised that the President should as far as possible get things going, pointing out that the worry by Nigerians was understandable because he was yet to appoint his ministers. He said that the expectation was that on assumption of office, the president should move in a fire cracker situation, adding that whatsoever was the case, the president was entitled to his pace.

On the alleged concentration of key political positions to the North, he noted that some of the offices like the Chief Justice of the Federation and few other appointments were made by the former administration.
He said that the President should be judged by the appointments he made himself and not the ones he inherited, noting that it will be the appointment of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Federal Commissioners that will be used to judge him.
