#SayNoToRacism: Soccer Stars Launch Movement & Solidarity To Put A Stop To Racism [PHOTOS]

During Barcelona’s visit to Villarreal last Sunday, a fan threw a banana at Barcelona star, Dani Alves as he prepared to take the corner kick. Without hesitation, Alves peeled the banana and ate it before getting back to the game. Villarreal quickly issued an apology and banned the fan from the stadium for life. Alves, who has been abused countless times in his career, said after the the game that “you have to take it with a dose of humor.”



A number of soccer’s biggest stars have taken Alves’ lead and started a worldwide movement to eradicate the sort of abuse Alves was subjected to. Players, coaches and fans are posting photos of themselves eating bananas with the hashtag #SomosTodosMacacosWe are all monkeys
