Lifetime network releases a footage from first trailer for the highly-anticipated flick, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B movie. The new clip that was released yesterday and features actress Alexandra Shipp as Aaliyah and Rachel Crawford as Aaliyah’s mother, who warns her that it “takes more than some hot producer to create a superstar.” In another scene, a producer seems to be in awe of Aaliyah as he predicts her future huge success.
Unlike the TLC movie on VH1, Princess of R&B will not feature any music from Babygirl, since the producers couldn't get the rights to Aaliyah’s music. Instead, Iggy Azalea’s “Goddess” is used as the backdrop. Oddly enough, the trailer does not feature any speaking parts from Alexandra either. Weird right?
