Super Eagles former skipper, Joseph Yobo said he became an ambassador for the re-election campaign of President Goodluck in 2015 because his administration has recorded many achievements in the last three and half years. A political group, PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative had named Yobo its brand Ambassador to show case the achievements of this administration ahead of 2015 general elections.
The former veteran defender, while briefing journalists at the national headquarters of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja at the weekend, said youths in the country are not fully aware of the many achievements of the PDP led government. He highlighted that a youth and community empowerment programmes created by the group was aimed at eradicating poverty and empowering Nigerian youths to be self-employed.
“The programmes are aimed at making a difference in Nigerian communities from ward to federal levels before, during and after the 2015 elections with short, medium and long term plans”, Yobe disclosed.
The National Publicity Secretary of PDP Ward 2 Ward Initiative, Zainab Akwanga explained that the decision to appoint Yobe as Brand Ambassador was informed by the fact that the former Super Eagles’ captain is a grassroots person “who in the past has set up the Joseph Yobo Charity Foundation, to help under-privileged children in Nigeria”.
