Chancellor and Host of the G7 Summit 2015, Angela Merkel says G7 leaders discussed terrorism, free trade agreements,
corruption, the Ukraine conflict, climate change, working conditions in Asia
and Africa among other topics.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Germany armed with a “wish list” for the Group of Seven summit, his spokesperson
said in a statement. The newly elected president requested help on Boko Haram
and Nigeria’s economy from G7 leaders at the summit in the Bavarian Alps, local
media reported.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s aim is for the group to reach an
agreement on limiting global temperature rises as well as contribute to a fund
for poor countries suffering the worst consequences of climate change. There
are also talks on the threat from radical extremism with the leaders of
Nigeria, Tunisia and Iraq.
The summit is being held at the picturesque Schloss
Elmau hotel in Kruen in the Bavarian Alps. The leaders of the US, UK, Japan,
France, Canada and Italy are attending the talks which began yesterday and ends
today 8th June, 2015
