Sequel to the controversy that generated from the case of a suspected Ebola infected student at the Obafemi Awolowo University, the vice-chancellor has announced the ban of Liberians students. The vice- chancellor of the university, Prof. Bamitale Omole at a press conference said "We have asked some foreign students not to resume. Students from Liberia have been asked not to resume and they have not resumed."
He also added that infrared thermometers to measure temperature of students and staff has been bought, this is a measure to ensure the school is free of Ebola. He also mentioned that an EVS Surveillance and Monitoring Unit has been created for suspected cases of Ebola to be reported to in due time.
Prof. Omole further said that the female student that was suspected to have contacted the EVD and was taken to the Ebola isolation centre in Lagos has tested negative both to the preliminary and confirmatory tests. He therefore enjoined everyone to maintain standard hygiene measures and to go about their daily activities without fear and panic.
He further stated that the female student that was suspected to have contracted the Ebola disease is in Lagos and would be resuming soon
