Graphic Content: Traffic Gridlock In Lagos As Man Jumps Off Third Mainland Bridge

Yesterday, Jan. 29th, a man, identified as Okechukwu Ezeigbo, jumped off from the top of the Third Mainland Bridge and drowned. The man who was discovered to be an indigence of Imo state was said to be a passenger on a bus going towards Obalende.  It was lenght that man asked the driver of the bus to stop atop the bridge and before anyone could realise what was going on, he hurriedly put off his shoes and took a dive into the Lagoon.

When officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority arrived at the scene, they sought the help of local fishermen in the area, who by the time they brought the victim out was already dead.

The situation caused a lot of trafic on the bridge as motorists began to park their vehicles on the road. The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Nwosu, adding that the police had contacted his relatives.
He said that preliminary investigation showed that the victim who had mental problem had been taken to a church located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,for prayers before he escaped.

He said, “The relatives said they did not know how he left the place and joined a public transport. The police have recovered the corpse and deposited in a morgue”
