International Business Times reports that Gunmen have freed 132 inmates from a Nigerian prison. The incident occurred in Kogi State prison, about 100 km from the capital Abuja, on Sunday. "They blew up the thing with dynamite," national police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu disclosed. Jacob Edi, spokesman for Kogi's Governor Idris Wada said: "There were 145 prisoners at the time of the attack. One died, eight have been recaptured and four surrendered voluntarily. The rest are at large."
A civilian reveals that the jail-break was accompanied by heavy gun fires which killed one person and injured two. Reports alleged that at least nine of the freed inmates have been re-arrested. Although no one has yet claimed responsibility for the raid, terror group Boko Haram are suspected to be behind it.
There are varying accounts of exactly how many prisoners escaped. Some reports state that 144 escaped, while others say it was 132.
