Nigeria's R&B King, 2face Idibia according to reports is currently at war with the youths of his community who have accused him and his mother of being disrespectful towards his kinsmen, the alleged beef escalated during the funeral of the singer's father some weeks ago. Below is how Pulse.NG who went for the burial of 2Baba's father reported the whole story. Read and share your thooughts:
2face was in his village Amufu in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State last week, Thursday, November, 6 and he was not well received by his kinsmen. An eye witness in the village where 2face buried his father told Pulse that the youth threatened to beat up 2face and kidnap his mother Mrs Rose Idibia.
The eye witness revealed that the youths were angry with 2face for not erecting a standard family house where he was supposed to bury his dad. When his father died, Pulse learnt that his kinsmen gave him some requirements that must be met before burying his father. Some of the requirements were that 2face was to build a proper family house in Amufu where his dad would be buried and thereafter repair the road leading to the village for easy access for guest coming for the burial.
2face according to Pulse sources agreed to the requirements and started building a house. The singer however stopped half way with the excuse that he had ran out of money which made the kinsmen angry. Further investigation by the elders of the family revealed that 2face’s mum had ordered his son to stop the building project.
“It is common knowledge that 2face’s mum ordered him to stop building the house. She doesn’t see the need of him building a house in the village where he won’t be visiting anytime soon. She also feels 2face’s uncle in the village will take control of the house,” the source told Pulse.
Angry youths of the village made their displeasure known to 2face and his mother immediately they entered the village for the burial. They pelted 2face and his family with stones and made moves to fight him, threatening to kidnap his mum.
They threatened to stop the burial and demanded an audience with 2face’s mum who with the help of the community’s Catholic Priest pleaded with the kinsmen to allow the funeral to go on and promised to complete the project after the burial. According to Pulse sources, 2face’s mum denied ordering her son to stop the project.
“2face is not liked here in his village and in the Idoma community as a whole unlike the other two music stars Terry G and Blackface. Terry G for example has a big house he built for his family here in the village even when he hardly visits,” the source also said.
After his father was laid to rest, 2face was said to have hurriedly left the village. Him and his mum were not hurt as there were protected by tight security. His wife, Annie Idibia and his manager Efe Omorogbe were also with him.
All efforts to get words from 2face’s publicist have been unsuccessful as his phones were switched off as at time of this report.
This is not the first time 2face is having a run in with the youths of his community. In 2012 during the burial of his grandmother, youths of the village made it known to him that he wasn’t welcome in the village.
Last Christmas during the Mark The Ball event organised by Senate President David Mark in Otupko, 2face was also booed by the crowd.
