According to multiple reports making rounds online, political thugs attacked the convoy of Rivers State
Governor Rotimi Amaechi yesterday during door to door campaign rally at Obio Akpor LGA, the hometown of the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate,
Nyesom Wike. The political thugs reportedly attacked Mr. Amaechi with stones and bottles before setting up bonfires to obstruct his movement out of town.
As the governor’s convoy manoeuvred their way out of the chaos, the thugs reportedly fired shots at the governor’s car. Two young men associated with the APC were injured in the attack.
The governor’s spokesperson,
David Iyofor, said “thugs” shot at the governor in Rumuolumeni, Obio Akpor, area of Port Harcourt.
