According to reports, The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ali Olanusi, has defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to the opposition All Progressives Congress. Mr. Olanusi, who is said to have had a frosty relationship with Governor Olusegun Mimiko for sometime, crossed to the APC Thursday morning. He is yet to make a formal announcement of his defection.
Mr. Olanusi, who ran with Mr. Mimiko on the platform of the Labour Party in 2007, became deputy governor in 2009 after the Court Appeal declared Mr. Mimiko winner of the disputed 2007 governorship election in the state.
He ran again with Mr. Mimiko on the platform of the same party in 2014. In October 2014, the governor and his deputy defected to the PDP.
