Britain's Parliamentary Elections came yesterday, May 7th, 2015...and swiftly ended with a surprising lead by the Conservative Party's Candidate and current Prime Minister, David Cameron.
An exit poll earlier put the Conservatives ahead on 316 seats, with Labour on 239, the Liberal Democrats on 10, the SNP on 58 and Ukip on 2. A majority government effectively requires a total of 326 seats and the Tories may yet creep over the line. A disastrous night for the Liberal Democrats saw Business Secretary Vince Cable lose his seat and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg hint that he may step down as leader of the party. There were suggestions Nigel Farage could come third in South Thanet, and there were also Labour fears that shadow chancellor Ed Balls could lose his seat as Ed Miliband prepared to face tough questions over his leadership.
Conservatives: 323
Labour: 228
