Nigerian Police Detain Emir’s Son Over Bomb Scare In Kano

Vanguard reports that the police in Kano have detained a middle age man believed to be the son of Emir of Ringmer over a bomb scare that triggers pandemonium at Sa”adatu Rimi College of Education located on the busy Kano – Zaria federal Highways.

The Jigawa prince identified as Mahmood Sayyadi but known and called Mazaje in social circle was said to have breached security when he was flagged down for checks. Security sources in Kano confided in Vanguard that the prince had arrived the scoop in a black SUV car and forced his way into the school campus. The ensuing commotion crippled academic activities as students took their heels to avoid been a victim of a suicide bomber.
Eyewitness disclosed that few gallant security guards confronted the emir’s son and forced him out of the jeep. The account further revealed that the suspect confessed to the guards that he has no link with terrorists adding that “I am here to see a friend”.
The account said that when it became clear the identity of the suspected suicide bomber fleeing students return in anger and was about administering jungle justice when the police arrived
It was learnt that a call was put to the police by a concerned citizen who deployed men to the spot to contain the situation.
Security sources revealed that “the police had to apply minimum force to restore order, adding that the suspect and his car was secured and taken to the police station.
A top police officer revealed on condition of anonymity that hard drugs were recovered from the vehicle , adding that investigation had since commenced to ascertain the true position. Commenting on the incident, the police public relations officer in Kano confirms the arrest but was quick to add that “we are yet to establish the identity of the detained suspect”.
AS Majia said ‘gentlemen of the press we had a security breach at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education and we have taken the suspect into custody as normalcy has been restored to the affected schools”.
