According to a report on Premium Times, an unidentified man was on Friday lynched in Kano on suspicion he belonged to the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The man was stoned to death by hundreds who gathered near Kano Central Mosque shortly before the commencement of Friday prayers. The attackers said the man arrived at the area with an explosive material and a gun.
Spotted, a group of youth chased him from Karkasara to the Central Mosque where he was rounded up and stoned to death.
The Kano Police spokesperson, Musa Majiya, confirmed the incident. He however said security operatives arrived at the scene promptly but could not trace any of the alleged weapons the man was accused of carrying.
Mr. Magaji, an Assistance Superintendent of Police, said because the unproven allegation, police had commenced investigation into what actually happened. He warned the public against taking laws into their hands whenever they suspected anything untoward, saying it could lead to attacks on innocent people.
