Chris Brown was dealt a serious blow in his probation surrounding his 2009 assault case involving Rihanna. The singer showed up to an L.A courtroom for a progress report on Thursday (Jan. 15), Where he appeared before the judge for his progress report, and officials expressed concerns about him being present recently at 2 separate shooting incidents. TMZ reported that the judge informed the singer his probation report contained several problems one being last Sunday’s shooting.
The judge also had concerns over an earlier shooting last August at 1OAK during the MTV Video Music Awards weekend, where Brown hosted a pre-awards show party. While he was performing, an unknown gunman opened fire where several people were shot including former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight.
Brown was also supposed to complete 1,000 hours of community labour by the end of January, but he is still 200 hours short. Additionally, the probation report expressed concern over Sunday’s shooting at a San Jose club. Brown was on stage when five people were injured.
The probation officer recommended that Brown serve time, saying that the singer has shown “a pattern of making choices that are counter-productive.”
Brown will remain free until a March 20 hearing when the judge will receive an update from probation officials. He is scheduled to kick off his “Between the Sheets Tour” with Trey Songz on Jan. 28 in Hampton, Va.
